Project BACKPACK

Project Backpack is one of A Thousand Miles’ signature programs, created to help children in Jamaica’s rural and hardest-hit communities recover, rebuild, and return to learning with confidence.

Each year, we aim to equip over 1,000 students with backpacks filled with essential school supplies and full-size hygiene products. These items help restore a sense of stability and dignity for children who have faced hardship, especially in communities impacted by natural disasters like Hurricane Melissa.

Beyond meeting immediate needs, Project Backpack represents hope, comfort, and opportunity. Every backpack we deliver helps a child walk into school prepared, supported, and reminded that they are not forgotten.

Together, we can make a difference, one backpack, one child, one community at a time.

Our campaign for the 2026 - 2027 school year has not started yet. Please donate to our Hurricane Melissa Relief efforts.
